Currituck’s projected population growth will create the need for 4,148 new dwelling units, over the next 20 years, to accommodate new year-round residents. That translates into adding at least 207 dwelling units per year to keep up with predicted demand.  New housing means new infrastructure in the form of roads and utilities. Careful planning can help communities grow in deliberate and intelligent ways that strengthen the economy, build on local assets, and maintain their distinctive rural character by protecting the natural environment.
